The start page is the figurehead of your WordPress website. Therefore, as soon as you have installed your WordPress website, you should immediately set a WordPress start page.
Quick guide: How to set your start page in WordPress
You have two options for setting a WordPress start page. On the one hand, you can set a dynamic WordPress start page, and on the other, a static one. We explain the difference between a dynamic and a static start page further down in the article.
3 steps on how to set a WordPress page as your start page:
1. first log in to your WordPress backend. You can usually access your WordPress backend via "https://deinedomain.de/wp-admin„.
2. click in the navigation menu on the left on "Settings" and then click on "Read„.
3. under the "Point Your website shows:" you now have two options. By default "Your last posts" (dynamic start page) is selected. If you now want to set a static WordPress start page, select the item "A static page (select below)" from. Under Homepage you can now set your previously created page as your WordPress start page.
Tip: It is also best to define a "post page" right away. As soon as you link to the blog on your website, your published posts will automatically be displayed there.
Important: You must first select a page in the navigation menu on the left-hand side under "Pages" to create these under "Homepage" to be able to define. You can do this, for example, with a PageBuilder such as Elementor do
Alternative: Set WordPress homepage via the Customizer
Alternatively, you can also set the WordPress start page using the WordPress Customizer. You can do this under "Design" > "Customizer" > "Homepage settings" in your WordPress backend.
Important: This only works with classic WordPress themes. If you already have one of the new Block themes you have to choose the above-mentioned way, as the Customizer has been removed as a menu item.
