Choose WordPress hosting provider

Requirements for creating a WordPress website

In order for the website you want to create to be accessible via the Internet, you need a WordPress hosting Provider who can provide you with the following:

  1. A domain - This is the internet address under which your website should be accessible in the future. Example: wordpresswebsitecreate.com
  2. A web space - A web space is the storage space on a server on the Internet where you upload your website data to create a WordPress website.

You will also need the CMS (content management system) WordPress - WordPress is free. You can download WordPress here: WordPress Download.

How to find the best WordPress hosting provider

There are many WordPress hosting providers, with different prices and different features. It is therefore advisable to read a few test reports and WordPress hosting comparisons to read through. Choose the WordPress hosting provider that you personally like the most and where the price-performance ratio is right. Support also plays a very important role if your website is unavailable so that you can get help quickly.

In this guide, we will focus on the Test winner "WPspace" in the WordPress hosting comparison 2023 from Blogmojo.de. However, you can also use these instructions to create a WordPress website with another provider. The steps for creating a WordPress website are very similar for every provider and only differ in minor details.

WordPress hosting order at WPspace: explained step by step

By the way: You can test WordPress hosting from WPspace almost free of charge

New customers benefit from a very special offer at WPspace. You can test every single WordPress hosting plan for just 1 cent in the first month. You have no contract commitment. This means that you can cancel after the trial period without incurring any further costs.

Step 1: Select WordPress hosting package

First choose a WordPress hosting tariff. We recommend the WPspace PRO tariffas a .DE domain is already included and you can start immediately.

Step 2: Select domain

Next, select your desired domain, click on "Check" to find out whether your desired domain is still available and then click on "Continue":

If you already have a domain, you can either transfer it to WPspace or just book the hosting and leave the domain with your current provider.

Important: If you want to leave your domain with your current provider, you need to take further steps to link it to WordPress hosting from WPspace. If you don't know how to do this, WPspace support and the support of your current provider can help you.

Note: The price for the inclusive domain will only be deducted in the shopping cart.

Step 3: Configure WordPress hosting

In the next step, you have the option of configuring your WordPress hosting and adding more storage space, for example. If this is your first WordPress website, then you probably won't need any additional storage space. So save yourself the money and continue without further configuration.

Step 4: Domain configuration

We recommend that you activate DNS management if you have booked the inclusive domain directly. This will ensure that you can manage the domain directly via WPspace later on.

Step 5: Finalize your order

In the last step, you can view your order in the summary, enter your payment information and select your payment method. You can choose between purchase on account or by SEPA direct debit. We recommend that you select SEPA direct debit, then the purchase amount will be conveniently debited from your deposited account.

Note: Orders from new customers at WPspace are manually checked and approved during business hours on weekdays between 09:00 and 17:00. So do not proceed with the next step until you have received the email from WPspace that your WordPress hosting has been provided. This usually only takes a few minutes.

Install WordPress: Explained step by step

By booking WordPress hosting, you're already halfway to creating your first WordPress website. Now we can really get going and start with the WordPress installation 🙂

Step 1: Login to the dashboard

You can now register at cp.wp-space.com with your previously selected access data. If you don't remember your login details, you can check the welcome email from WPspace again. There you will also find a link to reset your password. If you can't find the email, it's best to check your spam folder.

You will find your login details in the welcome email from WPspace

Step 2: Install WordPress

As soon as you have logged into the WPspace Dashboard, click on "Manage" under "Your active products/services" and then on "Go to hosting control panel".

The WPspace hosting control panel will open in a new tab. There, click on "WordPress" in the left-hand navigation bar to access the WP Toolkit. Then simply click on "Install".

The dialog for installing WordPress opens. All you have to do is enter your website title and then click on install.

You do not necessarily have to consider the other options unless the preselection does not match your personal preferences.

Note: You don't necessarily have to remember your WordPress login details, you can log in later via the WPspace dashboard with just one click without login details.

This step can be very different with other WordPress hosting providers. WPspace offers the option of a convenient 1-click installation. This means that your WordPress is installed fully automatically as described above. With other WordPress hosting providers, you may have to install WordPress manually.

4. install WordPress manually

If your hosting provider does not offer a 1-click installation, you can read the following article step by step on how to Install WordPress manually can.

WordPress basic configuration

The WordPress hosting has been ordered and WordPress has been successfully installed. Now it's time for the fun part - you can finally start configuring and creating your website with WordPress.

WordPress admin area

If you open your website now, you will already see the default website. This probably does not yet meet your expectations, so we need to edit it.

This is what the start page of a fresh WordPress installation looks like.

The WordPress admin area is the hub for managing WordPress and creating and designing additional subpages. You can access this by adding the path /wp-admin hang. Visit the page for this: yourdomain.com/wp-admin

You will then be greeted by the WordPress login screen. Here you can log in with your WordPress access data to access the WordPress admin area.

If you have installed your WordPress website with the 1-click installation of WPspace, you can simply click on "Login" via the hosting control panel under "WordPress" and you will be taken to the WordPress admin area without having to enter any access data.

What you can do if you have forgotten your WordPress password.

If you have forgotten your WordPress password, you can simply go to yourdomain.com/wp-admin click on "Forgot your password?". You will then receive an e-mail with which you can reset your password.

At WPspace, you can click on "Setup" in the WordPress Toolkit to reset your password.

Set WordPress start page

  1. Navigate to the settingsClick on "Settings" in the left-hand navigation bar in the dashboard.
  2. Select "Read": In the drop-down list under "Settings", select "Read".

  5. Save changes: Don't forget to click on the "Save changes" button at the bottom of the page to save your settings.
  6. CheckGo to your website to ensure that the page you have selected is now displayed as the start page.
You can set your start page in the WordPress admin area here

You can find detailed instructions in our article Set WordPress start page.

Select and upload the theme for your WordPress site

There is an endless collection of WordPress themes that are differentiated by category, color or style. The most important difference for you is probably free and paid.

Some free themes are available directly in WordPress and some of them look really good. However, they don't offer you much flexibility in terms of design and individuality when creating a WordPress website. For a professional website, it's worth spending a few euros and purchasing a premium theme, for example via Themeforest to buy.

Creating a WordPress website - a continuous process

Now it's time to get started! If you've been able to create your WordPress website up to this point, I think now comes the fun part.
